Types of merchandise

It is important to note that not all wholesalers are carrying the same merchandise even when they appear to be, some carry store returns, which are items that someone has brought back for one reason or another. That is not to say that store returns are garbage, a lot of times people return items because they didn't fit, were not needed, or were simply an impulse buy. One thing to note however is that there is a good likelihood that when you buy this type of merchandise that the original packaging may be damaged or lost all together.

The pallet deal
Another common sales method is selling by the pallet, this often has a mismatched assortment of items with a general theme, such as tools, or clothes. Usually you don't know exactly what is on the pallet until you get it, so it is a good idea if possible to go into the actual sellers warehouse and take a look before buying. Pallets can cost as low as $99 or as high as $99,000 or more. It really varies as does the quality.

Buyer beware!!!
One trick that some wholesalers use is that they reselect the material when they receive it from the store, this obviously is bad, as you are buying the junk that they didn't want. Avoid smaller warehouses that do not deal in hundreds of pallets a week as the larger ones just don't have the time to peck through the list. And favor pallet brokers that never even see the items, they simply ship from the store to you. This can save a fist full on shipping as well.
